Summary

Research on the seagrass Halodule uninervis from Amami-Oshima Island reveals that its photosynthesis is significantly inhibited at low temperatures (15°C) and under strong irradiance, suggesting temperature-dependent light inhibition. The study found optimal photosynthetic performance at 30.5°C for total rates and 23.9°C for maximum quantum yield, with notable declines in quantum efficiency under low-temperature and high-light conditions that persisted even after dark acclimation. This indicates potential vulnerability to environmental changes near the northern limit of its distribution.
