Summary
A critical analysis of fire risk management in the UNESCO-listed Tabriz Historic Bazaar Complex (THBC) reveals that modern equipment, electrical safety controls, and 24/7 surveillance are the most effective strategies to mitigate fire hazards. The study, spanning 2009–2019, identified 25 key factors—across economic, physical, socio-cultural, technical, and managerial dimensions—that influence fire occurrence, with peaks during religious ceremonies, carpet sales, and late-night hours (22:00–03:00), particularly in winter. Among 26 components assessed for risk management, 10 were deemed vital, emphasizing the need for upgraded infrastructure and proactive monitoring to protect this irreplaceable heritage site.
