Summary
Research reveals that the mausoleum of Zhoshykhan, eldest son of Genghis Khan, provides historical evidence confirming its construction date and the relocation of his headquarters from Eastern to Central Kazakhstan. This finding is significant as it links the monument's location with medieval Kazakh history, offering insights into the movement of power structures during this period. Additionally, the study highlights a traditional Kazakh ritual, 'ainalmak,' which involves circular detours around burial structures like Alashakhan and Duzen Sandybaev mausoleums. These rituals, also observed in other Central Asian mausoleums such as those in Bukhara and Turkmenistan, underscore deep cultural roots tied to solar symbolism and healing practices. The research underscores the importance of further studying these under-examined monuments to enrich understanding of Kazakh heritage.
