Summary
Higher social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic was associated with more favorable living conditions in Salvador, Bahia. This study identified significant spatial disparities in adherence to containment measures, with wealthier neighborhoods exhibiting greater compliance. Using an ecological approach, researchers calculated Social Distancing and Living Conditions Indices, applying Global and Local Moran Indices to assess spatial autocorrelation. Findings underscore the need for tailored pandemic mitigation strategies that account for local vulnerability profiles, particularly in impoverished areas, to improve adherence and social equity.
