Summary

Göbekli Tepe, a ceremonial site emerging during the Great Thaw at the end of the Ice Age, presents a radical shift from Palaeolithic cave art. Unlike the graceful beauty of animal representations in caves, Göbekli Tepe's depictions convey danger, apprehension, and threat. This site, located near Natufian areas, challenges the notion that agricultural crises spurred its development. Instead, it reflects a cultural response to overcrowding and the intertwining of life and death, marking a significant transition in human ritual practices.
