Summary

A comprehensive catalogue of Staphylinidae (Coleoptera) biodiversity in the Province of Verona, Northern Italy, reveals 988 species, including seven new records for Italy and one potentially undescribed species. The study, based on extensive field data and historical collections like those at the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Verona, highlights a notable 5% endemism rate and significant biogeographic patterns across diverse habitats—from alpine to anthropogenic landscapes. Notably, the research identifies endemic, introduced, and taxonomically challenging species, while mapping their distribution, microhabitats, and ecological roles in protected areas. This work underscores Verona's rich biodiversity and provides a freely accessible database for future entomological studies.
