Summary

Gochang-gun, Korea, stands as the second region in the country to host all three UNESCO-designated natural environment-related World Heritage Sites—biosphere reserve, World Natural Heritage (Gochang-Buan mudflat), and World Geopark. A comprehensive Biotope map, developed through a two-year ecological survey by the National Institute of Ecology (2021–2022), provides detailed spatial data on biotope types, grades, land cover, land use, and topography for this ecologically significant region. This map, registered with a DOI, serves as a valuable resource for future research, enhancing our understanding of Gochang-gun’s unique ecological and cultural heritage.
