Summary
Adaptive reuse of Bauhaus heritage, exemplified by the Gropius Törten Estate in Dessau, can preserve authenticity while addressing contemporary needs. This study reveals that leveraging collective memory—through social surveys and literature analysis—identifies challenges (e.g., loss of originality due to modernization) and opportunities for conservation. Key findings suggest that integrating adaptive equipment (e.g., installations, color changes) while respecting historical integrity can transform neglected suburban housing into income-generating monumental heritage. The research proposes tentative recommendations for future remodeling, emphasizing the potential of early modernist architecture to remain relevant through adaptive strategies.
