Summary

A spatial iconographic program of Ukrainian Baroque iconostasis has been identified, revealing that side altars and monastic churches within Kyiv's Saint-Sophia Cathedral and Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra feature specialized thematic programs tied to feast days or saint dedications. Unlike the central altar's year-round service requirements, these programs expand the sacred space beyond the main church's physical boundaries through carefully planned iconographic systems. This discovery highlights a previously unrecognized interaction between additional altars and monastic temples, offering new insights into the spatial dynamics of Baroque-era religious art in Ukraine.
