Summary

A transnational vision for Peruvian independence, rooted in the Revolution of 1814–15 and centered in Cuzco, proposed a new empire stretching from Lima to the River Plate. This 'revolution of the patria' aimed not only for independence but also to sever all ties with the Spanish monarchy, positioning Cuzco as its capital due to its antiquity and strategic location. While this movement has been largely overlooked in broader Latin American independence narratives, it is highlighted here as a significant yet understudied chapter in the region's struggle for sovereignty.
