Summary
A year-long study measuring non-ionizing radiation (NIR) emissions in Xochimilco, Mexico City, found that while the levels of radio frequency (RF) and magnetic field (CM) remained below national and international safety limits, they exceeded thresholds linked to potential adverse health effects. The highest average RF and CM values were 1316 μW/m² and 6.38 μT in a commercial zone, compared to 66 μW/m² and 5.08 μT in a residential area. These findings align with ICNIRP guidelines but underscore the need for further research due to lingering uncertainties about long-term biological impacts.
