Summary
The archaeological areas of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Torre Annunziata, designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997, face challenges related to anthropic pressure on the ancient city. A strategic plan aims to enhance 'minor sites' within the buffer zone—including Boscoreale, Civita Giuliana, Oplontis, Stabiae, Longola, Castello di Lettere, Bourbon factory, and Quisisana Palace—to diversify cultural tourism, relieve congestion at Pompeii, and strengthen infrastructural connections. The study proposes development guidelines to create urban links between Pompeii and neighboring sites, preserving archaeological, urban, and landscape values while boosting the Vesuvian archaeological system's economic and cultural impact. This approach seeks to transform satellite sites into new attraction poles, benefiting both heritage preservation and local communities.
