Summary
Researchers have confirmed the presence of the giant armadillo (Priodontes maximus), a vulnerable species, at Serra do Amolar within the Pantanal Conservation Area of Brazil. This discovery extends the known range of the species and provides new data for its conservation in this critical biome. The study employed camera traps and burrow censuses to document the species' occurrence in an area previously lacking records. While the findings highlight the need for further population assessments and ecological studies, they underscore the importance of Serra do Amolar as a potential refuge for this threatened mammal.
