Summary

Virtual 3D reconstruction reveals that two of the four proposed arrangements for the five central figures on the east pediment of the Temple of Zeus at Olympia are infeasible due to spatial constraints. The study employed innovative software (Leonar3Do) and advanced scanning techniques to digitally model the statues from original fragments, then inserted these into a virtually reconstructed architectural frame based on recent research. By testing technical feasibility and aesthetic effects, it ruled out two configurations, providing new insights into the arrangement of this iconic ancient Greek sculpture.
