Summary
Effective management of UNESCO World Heritage Sites can significantly improve quality of life (QOL) while preserving their outstanding universal value (OUV). A study on Memphis and its Necropolis, Egypt—a site facing threats to its global significance—demonstrates this through a multiphase research approach. The research reveals that integrated management strategies, aligned with national sustainable development goals like Egypt Vision 2030, can enhance QOL indicators without compromising the site's OUV. The study combines theoretical analysis, desk-based literature reviews of comparable sites, and the devising of an applicable strategy for Memphis, yielding quantitative and qualitative insights into the link between heritage management and QOL. This approach offers a model for balancing conservation with societal benefits in World Heritage Sites.
