Satisfaction and perception of visitors to selected UNESCO cultural and historical objects
Visitors to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Gardens and Castle at Kroměříž, exhibit above-average satisfaction with their experience. This finding emerges from a study analyzing 1,500 Google reviews across three Czech castles (Litomyšl, Lednice, and Kroměříž) between January 2022 and June 2023. The research employed frequency analysis to assess visitor satisfaction, revealing that positive terms like 'beautiful,' 'nice,' and 'lock' dominate reviews, indicating high levels of contentment with the cultural offer and service quality. Additionally, a frequency map of key review concepts was generated, providing insights into visitor perception patterns at these heritage sites.
Rybí obsádky vodních prvků památkově chráněných areálů
A two-year survey of water features across three UNESCO World Heritage Sites—Gardens and Castle at Kroměříž, Červené Poříčí Castle, and the former Osek Monastery—revealed widespread ecological degradation due to eutrophication, overgrowth, unregulated fishing, and invasive species. The study highlights a critical gap in knowledge regarding sustainable fish stock management and environmental maintenance in culturally significant water bodies, which are often part of historic gardens, castles, or religious complexes. Findings underscore the need for controlled interventions to preserve biodiversity while balancing aesthetic and conservation goals.
Editorial
This issue of Acta Musei Nationalis Pragae - Historia Litterarum (Vol. 65, 2020/3-4) presents a diverse range of studies and reviews centered on Czech-French cultural relations, historical preservation, and digital humanities. A notable contribution by J. Kašparová explores lesser-known female figures in early 20th-century Czech-French cultural exchanges, while R. Modráková examines the conservation challenges of post-Hussite period monastery libraries. The issue also highlights Adolf Hoffmeister’s depictions of the 'Friday Men' and the digitization process of Oldřich Menhart’s Figural typeface from the 1940s. Additionally, it includes critical reviews of significant publications, such as Frédéric Barbier’s Histoire d'un livre: la Nef des fous and catalogues from Kroměříž Castle Library, offering insights into historical scholarship and cultural heritage documentation.
