Summary
Rajasthan's tourism sector has demonstrated remarkable resilience post-COVID-19, with foreign tourist arrivals surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 2024. This recovery highlights the enduring global appeal of Rajasthan's UNESCO World Heritage Sites, wildlife reserves, and desert landscapes, despite a severe decline during the pandemic. However, the study reveals a high concentration of tourists in four major circuits—Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer—which has intensified challenges related to overtourism, heritage conservation, and uneven regional development. The research combines quantitative analysis of foreign tourist arrivals from 2019 to 2024 with a systematic review of peer-reviewed literature, emphasizing the need for diversification into rural, tribal, wellness, and creative tourism segments to achieve sustainable growth. Policy recommendations focus on balancing heritage management, wildlife conservation, and community integration to ensure Rajasthan's long-term global competitiveness.
