Summary
Researchers have identified a new species of Trichoderma fungus, Trichoderma wuyiense, from the Wuyi Mountains in China. This discovery was made through a comprehensive analysis combining morphological characteristics, cultural traits, and phylogenetic data derived from rDNA sequences of RPB2 and TEF1-α genes. T. wuyiense is distinguished by its unique conidiophores, phialides, and conidia, and it belongs to the Viride clade, showing close relations to Trichoderma sparsum. The study highlights the importance of integrating morphological and molecular data for accurate species classification, contributing significantly to our understanding of fungal biodiversity in the Wuyi Mountains.
