Summary
A novel analysis reveals that the Fábrica de embutidos de Segovia, designed by architect Curro Inza, functions as more than just a standalone structure—it is intricately linked to its surrounding landscape and urban context. Contrary to previous interpretations that classified it as a 'matbuilding,' this study proposes two key hypotheses: first, that the building operates as a hybrid within its environment, blending architectural form with paisaje; second, that it serves as a contemporary mirror or reflection of the Monastery of El Escorial, reinforcing its cultural and historical significance. The research also explores whether Inza's design aligns with mannerist architecture, offering deeper insight into his enigmatic approach. By employing a speculative and comparative framework, this study challenges conventional understandings of the Fábrica de Segovia, shedding light on its complex relationship with both landscape and heritage.
