Summary
A new set of criteria for assessing cultural landscape heritage in historic areas, particularly applicable to Thailand, has been developed. These criteria, encompassing aesthetics, history, science and education, and society, aim to address the gap in current conservation practices that primarily focus on buildings with high archaeological importance while neglecting surrounding landscapes. The proposed framework integrates concepts from UNESCO and Thai organizations, offering a comprehensive approach to valuing cultural landscapes. This study contributes to sustainable development planning by providing structured guidelines for evaluating and preserving cultural heritage beyond traditional architectural landmarks.
