Development of an Augmented Reality Tour Guide for a Cultural Heritage Site

An augmented reality (AR) mobile application for cultural heritage tourism, tested at UNESCO World Heritage Site Hwaseong Fortress, demonstrates significant potential to enhance visitor engagement and learning. The app integrates navigation, AR visualization of historical details, and interactive serious games, yielding positive user feedback while identifying areas for refinement. This study provides a model for designing AR tour applications that balance usability with immersive experiences, offering valuable insights for future mobile tourism tools.
