Summary

Borobudur Temple, one of Indonesia's most visited tourist sites, has a moderate sustainability index of 69.84, according to a study using the Rap-Tourism with Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) approach. The assessment revealed that while economic and sociocultural dimensions score relatively high at 72.62 and 72.76 respectively, environmental and institutional dimensions lag behind at 66.94 and 69.27. Key recommendations to improve sustainability include rearranging plants for better environmental integration, enhancing complaint handling services, constructing outbound rides and flying foxes to reduce crowding, and promoting complementary attractions. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to balance the temple's popularity with sustainable tourism practices.
