'Allá está de balde y aquí me serviría'. La circulación capilar de libros en guaraní en el Paraguay, el Río de la Plata y el espacio atlántico (siglo XVIII)

Summary

Books in the Guarani language circulated extensively across Paraguay, the Río de la Plata region, and even Europe during the 18th century, despite being produced primarily by Jesuit missions along the Parana and Uruguay rivers. This capillary distribution was driven by the educational networks of the missions and the Jesuits' linguistic proficiency in indigenous languages. The study, based on inventories from Jesuit libraries compiled during their expulsion (1767–1768), reveals that Guarani functioned as a widespread colonial language, facilitating the dissemination of these materials across significant urban and mission centers.
