Summary

Borobudur Temple, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Indonesia's Super Priority Tourism Destination, serves as a pivotal lever for sustainable tourism development in Magelang Regency. This study reveals that establishing Borobudur as a central theme for city branding can significantly boost tourism promotion, benefiting both domestic and international visitors while enhancing local community welfare. The research highlights the importance of stakeholder collaboration, strategic area management, and empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in implementing this sustainable development approach. Qualitative-descriptive methods, including interviews with key informants and focus group discussions (FGDs), were employed to gather insights from Borobudur Temple management, cooperatives, and government officials overseeing the tourism sector. The findings underscore that integrating Borobudur's heritage status into a cohesive city branding strategy is essential for Magelang Regency's economic growth and sustainable tourism future.
