Summary
A novel approach to urban planning and bioclimatic architecture was demonstrated through the requalification of Elche's river park, integrating eco-houses with advanced cooling systems. The study introduced a vertical rotating panel system using large-format ceramic tiles to address energy inefficiencies caused by westward-facing glazing in residential buildings. By leveraging the chimney effect and vegetal masses for natural airflow and cooling, the research optimized energy consumption through simulations using Design Builder software. This model not only enhanced the relationship between urban spaces and the river Vinalopò but also proposed a sustainable building typology that could revitalize existing river parks while minimizing environmental impact.
