Summary
An integrated BIM-GIS management tool has been developed to enhance the maintenance and conservation of historical heritage, specifically applied to the Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy. This innovative approach combines Building Information Modeling (BIM) with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), enabling precise three-dimensional modeling and spatial integration of architectural artifacts. The tool facilitates interoperability between domains, creating a comprehensive database that supports maintenance planning by providing accessible information linked to 3D models. The geometric representation adheres to international standards for both BIM (UNI 11337/4) and GIS (CityGML), ensuring accuracy and usability. This project, part of the INTERREG V-A Cooperation Programme Italy-Switzerland, addresses shared challenges in heritage conservation while advancing competitiveness and regional cohesion.
