Summary
Researchers have identified two new species of stoneflies, Rhopalopsole wuyishanensis and Rhopalopsole trichotoma, from the Wuyi Mountains in southeastern China. These discoveries expand the known biodiversity of the genus Rhopalopsole within the Leuctridae family (Plecoptera). The study provides detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations, distinguishing these species from closely related groups such as the R. dentata group and the R. shaanxiensis group. The findings contribute to our understanding of stonefly diversity in this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is renowned for its unique ecosystems.
