Summary

Researchers have identified and described a new species of stonefly, Neowuia wuyishana, from Mount Wuyi in Fujian Province, China. This discovery marks the second species within the genus Neowuia and expands the known distribution of the tribe Diploperlini in the Oriental region. The study, published in Zootaxa, focuses on morphological features of both adults and eggs, confirming Neowuia's placement within Diploperlini. Notably, this is the first record of Diploperlini in southeastern coastal China, contributing significantly to our understanding of biodiversity in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
