Summary
A novel method for digitally reconstructing 3D models of inaccessible or hidden parts of cultural heritage sites, such as the buried reliefs at Borobudur Templehas been developed using single monocular photos. This approach addresses challenges posed by physical inaccessibility, which prevents traditional 3D scanning techniques. The research introduces a multimodal database, 'Borobudur Visual Archives,' designed to store and retrieve diverse digital assets, including 3D models, images, videos, multilingual texts, CAD drawings, and historical descriptions. This system enhances the preservation of cultural heritage by integrating disparate data sources, enabling comprehensive documentation and analysis of sites like Borobudur, even for portions that are physically unreachable.
