Summary
A study simulating tsunami events around Ujung Kulon National Park (TNUK), Indonesia, reveals that earthquakes of magnitudes 6.5 and 6.9 Mw could generate tsunami waves ranging from 0.001 to 0.3 meters in height, with the highest impacts observed along the southern coast of TNUK and Peucang Island. The research used advanced numerical modeling techniques, TUNAMI-F1 and TUNAMI-N3, to predict wave heights and inundation areas based on historical earthquake data from January 2022 (6.5 Mw) and August 2019 (6.9 Mw). Notably, the 6.5 Mw scenario produced higher maximum wave heights than the 6.9 Mw scenario, with tsunami run-up distances remaining under 1 km. The findings highlight critical coastal vulnerability zones within TNUK, emphasizing the need for targeted risk mitigation strategies.
