Summary

A study comparing health and safety behaviors among local and international tourists at Borobudur Temple, Indonesia, found that foreign tourists were more vulnerable to food and beverage hygiene risks, while both groups experienced solar radiation effects. Despite differences in knowledge levels—with foreign tourists showing greater understanding—the overall health and safety behaviors between the two groups did not differ significantly. The research, conducted using a cross-sectional approach with 400 participants from September to November 2019, suggests that tourism managers should enhance visitor education through informational materials to mitigate risks such as sunburn and foodborne diseases.
