Summary
A recent study has uncovered a higher diversity of Malpighiaceae plants in the Chapada dos Veadeiros region, Goiás, Brazil, than previously documented. The research recorded 78 species, representing about one-third of all Malpighiaceae found in the Cerrado biome. This finding underscores the region's significant role in conserving plant biodiversity in Central Brazil. The study utilized an illustrated checklist approach to document and verify species within the family, contributing valuable data for understanding the ecological importance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
