Summary
New ksour developments in the M’Zab Valley (1995–2016) reveal both continuity and transformation in Mozabite social solidarity, a cornerstone of their survival. Unlike traditional ksour, these modern extensions prioritize material comfort and lifestyle changes while relying on enduring institutions for financing, beneficiary selection, construction, and post-occupation management. A monographic study of six new ksour—combining architectural expertise with anthropological fieldwork (2014–2016)—highlights how evolving societal needs both sustain and challenge the adaptive resilience of Mozabite solidarity systems.
