Summary

Research on the Borobudur Temple reveals that actinomycetes associated with moss on its stone surface play a significant role in biodeterioration. The study identified 37 actinomycetes from three sampling sites, belonging to five genera (Gordonia, Microbacterium, Micromonospora, Nocardia, and Streptomyces) and four families. Notably, 51.35% of the isolates were from the genus Streptomyces, with 45.94% demonstrating phosphate-solubilizing abilities, primarily within this group. These findings highlight the potential impact of actinomycetes on stone decay and suggest their relevance for further study or conservation efforts. The isolates have been deposited in the Indonesian Culture Collection (InaCC) to serve as a reference for future research.
