Summary

Nearshore sandbars, dynamic underwater features critical to sediment exchange between beaches and nearshore zones, can be effectively monitored using unmanned aerial system (UAS) imagery. This study demonstrates that UAS flights, combined with echo sounding surveys, provide high-resolution data capable of tracking longshore migration and cross-shore structure changes in sandbars along the Curonian Spit, Lithuania. The findings highlight the potential of UAS technology to complement traditional bathymetric surveys, offering valuable insights for post-storm nearshore monitoring and morphodynamic analysis.
