Summary

A shift in the tourism landscape of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, South Korea, is evident from 2009 to 2017, transitioning from a site primarily valued for its academic and historical significance to a dynamic tourist destination with diverse attractions. Big data analysis revealed that while keywords like 'academic' and 'important' dominated in 2009, reflecting its scholarly recognition, terms such as 'group tours,' 'content,' 'Jangjo the Great's achievements,' and specific cultural landmarks (e.g., 'Paldalmun Gate,' 'Changanmun Gate') gained prominence by 2017. This indicates a broadening appeal, catering to both individual and group visitors while integrating educational tourism programs. The study used network analysis via TEXTOM software on nine years of data, providing insights into evolving visitor interests and the fortress's growing role as a multifaceted tourist hub.
