Summary
In 2007, fires affected 72.81% of the Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros (PNCV) and 38.10% of its surrounding area, with September being the most impacted month. The study, using geotechnologies, identified that Savana Parque (Sp) was the most severely affected land cover type, accounting for 75.78% of burned areas within PNCV. This research highlights the significant impact of wildfires on this UNESCO World Heritage Site and its buffer zone, emphasizing the need for targeted conservation efforts to mitigate fire-related damage in such vulnerable ecosystems.
