In-Fill Design Identification as Preliminary Study of Heritage Site Conservation in Borobudur Area

A critical gap in government documentation and regulation of local architecture surrounds Borobudur Temple Compounds, threatening the preservation of its rural architectural heritage. This study identifies a diverse range of infill designs—including space arrangements, construction structures, and aesthetic elements—through direct fieldwork, digital modeling, and drawing across villages in the area. While most buildings feature gable roofs, notable deviations were observed, highlighting the need for comprehensive documentation to support Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) processes. The research serves as a preliminary step toward safeguarding Borobudur's unique architectural landscape against urban development pressures.
