Summary
A first-ever assessment of medium- and large-sized mammal diversity in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park (CVNP) and its surroundings reveals critical insights for conservation. The study found 23 species, with higher richness in both the rainy season and outside park boundaries, highlighting the park's limited effectiveness in preserving biodiversity. Seasonal variations in species composition and frequency were also observed, emphasizing the need for long-term monitoring to ensure viable populations persist. This research provides essential data for future conservation strategies in this underrepresented Brazilian biome.
