Summary

Indigenous engineering practices of the Mbyá-Guaraní communities, rooted in subsistence activities such as agriculture, hunting, and craftsmanship, offer a non-Western perspective that challenges traditional engineering discourse. This study identifies how these communities' cultural knowledge—accumulated over centuries—serves as a foundation for indigenous engineering, which is often overlooked in formal education. By analyzing their practices, the research highlights the potential to integrate emic (insider) perspectives into engineering curricula, fostering inclusive community engagement and addressing power dynamics in collaborative projects.
