Summary
A comprehensive study of plant diversity in the Javan Rhino and Conservation Area (JRSCA) within Ujung Kulon National Park has identified 241 plant species in undeveloped areas, including three vulnerable and one endangered species according to IUCN standards. Additionally, 89 species were found to be potential food sources for the critically endangered Javan rhinoceros. The research used quadratic sampling methods and interviews to assess plant diversity across different growth stages—trees, poles, saplings, and seedlings/understoreys—revealing a high level of biodiversity with varying species diversity indices. In areas designated for JRSCA development, 141 plant species were documented, including one vulnerable species, alongside plans to fell 2,221 trees with an estimated volume of 3,528.14 m³. This study underscores the ecological importance of Ujung Kulon National Park and provides critical data for minimizing the impact of conservation efforts on native plant diversity.
