Summary

Designing digital city tours using the izi.TRAVEL platform significantly enhances students' multiliteracy, multimodal skills, and global citizenship in second-language learning. A study involving university students of Italian as a second language demonstrated that crafting digital stories based on cultural heritage—specifically Venice—improved their narration, mediation, and interpretation abilities while fostering their role as global citizens. The research employed a two-part project: classroom and museum activities to deepen understanding of Venetian culture, followed by guided creation of digital tours. Multimodal analysis revealed that this approach effectively combined language learning with digital storytelling, promoting both technical and creative competencies.
