Summary

A novel knowledge graph representation method has been developed to enhance the semantic 3D modeling of Chinese grottoes, addressing gaps in domain knowledge and understanding. This approach integrates a domain ontology named ChgOnto, which precisely defines components, elements, properties, and spatial relationships within grottoes, while reusing established ontologies like CIDOC CRM and GeoSPARQL for broader applicability. The method extracts knowledge from unstructured text using natural language processing tools to instantiate abstract classes and fill properties in a structured data layer. Validated through the case study of Dazu Rock Carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage site, this approach demonstrates robust scalability and effectiveness as a knowledge-sharing platform for semantic 3D modeling, offering potential applications beyond Chinese grottoes.
