Summary

Researchers have identified two new species of the plant genus Oocephalus (Hyptidinae, Lamiaceae) within Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, Brazil. These discoveries, named O. griseus and O. campestris, expand the known biodiversity of the region. The study provides detailed descriptions, distribution insights, and taxonomic notes for both species, along with a diagnostic key to distinguish all Oocephalus species in Goiás state and Distrito Federal. High-resolution illustrations and photographs accompany the descriptions, aiding in future identification efforts. This work contributes to the understanding of plant diversity in the Cerrado biome, a globally significant ecosystem recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
