A Place-centered Approach for the Integrated Nature-Culture Management of World Heritage in the Antropocene Era

A shift towards integrated nature-culture management in UNESCO World Heritage sites, exemplified by Røros Mining Town and the Circumference, reveals a more holistic approach to preserving cultural landscapes. This study highlights how such an approach transcends the traditional dichotomy between nature and culture, embracing the interconnectedness of ecosystems, heritage, and local communities—particularly the Sámi people's sustainable land management practices. By leveraging frameworks like 'Connecting Practice' and 'Panorama Solution,' this research demonstrates that place-centered conservation can effectively address the challenges of the Anthropocene era, fostering coexistence between human activities and natural systems.
