Carbon Storage and Climate Change Mitigation Potential of the Forests of the Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia

The study used allometric models (Brown, 1998) for above-ground biomass and below-ground-to-above-ground ratios (MacDicken, 1997) to estimate carbon stocks, while dead wood, leaf litter, herb/grass, and soil organic carbon were assessed via quadrate sampling and lab analysis. This research underscores the ecological value of Simien's lowland forests in Ethiopia's climate change mitigation efforts.
